Three Star Cruises

Three star cruising has often been considered a place to find great value cruises, or are they? With companies such as Island Cruises, due to close soon, as are another three star cruise line the P&O Cruises owned Ocean Village; their parent companies realising that 3 star cruising does not necessarily put heads on beds.

Other three star cruise lines include Pullmantur Cruises, owned by Royal Caribbean and operating out of Spain as well as Thomson Cruises a UK based, Travel Agent owned cruise line. Will they benefit with the demise of Island Cruises and Ocean Village? I guess so.

Thomson cruises will receive one of the Island cruises ships when they finally close doors to passengers, the Ocean Village ships are likely to head south to Australia and join up with P&O Cruises Australia.

So what can you expect on a three star cruise? Value, yes, do not forget all your food is paid for, you can still eat to your hearts content. Accommodation is often not as bad as people think, after all Ocean Village was once P&O Arcadia and is perhaps the most spacious three star cruise ship afloat. Then there is the entertainment, they are a bit like Butlins at sea, well OK not quite as tacky.
