Allure of the Seas

The Allure of the Seas is currently under construction for Royal Caribbean International. She will be very much like her sister ship; Oasis of the Seas who is the world’s largest passenger ship.

She was originally designed under the name of ‘Project Genesis’ with construction her beginning in February 2008.

When it came to naming the ship a contest was held which enabled members of the public to have an input into finding the name of the new ship and in May 2008 after hundreds of entries she was finally named Allure of the Seas.

Her keel was later laid in Turku dockyard in Finland on the 2nd December 2008. She will be home ported at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale with plans for her to enter service for Royal Caribbean in the summer of 2010.

Allure of the Seas will be an Oasis Class of cruise ship alongside Oasis of the Seas. There are plans for these two ships to be joined by two further ships in the future. All four of the ships will hold the title of being the largest passenger ships in the world. Allure of the Seas will weigh in at 220,000 gross tons matching that of Oasis of the Seas. She will measure in at 360 metres in length and 47 metres in width carrying a total of 5,400 over 16 decks.
