A cruise sold as a Cruise Only cruise, is one where there are either no flights or the flights will be sourced elsewhere by the passenger.
Many cruise lines offer cruise only cruises and sometimes real bargain cruises can be obtained. Recently Costa Cruises signed a deal with Ryanair to offer a great alternative to Cruise Only cruises, where by a low cost operator, in this case Ryanair, will be used to fly to the departure port.
Anyone wanting a longer stay in a port or country, such as Miami in Florida will often get a better deal than from a cruise line as their choice is open to all companies flying to the City and not just relying on schedule airlines as in the case with Royal Caribbean. There are also many companies who will offer very cheap hotels as part of a package when purchased with flight tickets.
Cruise only cruises can also point towards the ever increasing Ferry operations, such as the three day return trips between places such as Portsmouth and Santander, these are often marketed as mini cruises, though are not the same as a mini cruise on a real cruise ship.
