Founded in 1989 by the Greek Chandris Group, Celebrity Cruises is an award winning cruise line that has become very popular.  In 1997 Celebrity Cruises Ltd was purchased by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, which has now become Royal Caribbean International.  Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International are run as separate cruise lines using their own cruise ships.

Looking to the future Celebrity Cruises also have plans to launch four other Celebrity Solstice class ships, Celebrity Equinox in 2009 and Celebrity Eclipse in 2010 and further ships in 2011 and 2012.  Each of these ships will benefit from the amenities of the earlier ships with a few changes, for the better.
