Cunards latest cruise liner the Queen Elizabeth joined the Cunard Cruises fleet in October 2010 after being christened by HRH Queen Elizabeth II. She is the latest of the Vista Class of cruise ship; Cunards Queen Victoria is also a Vista class ship.

In 2003 Cunard launched their new and at the time largest vessel on the seas, Queen Mary 2. Her gross tonnage is 148,528 tons and she is still the largest ocean liner on the sea to date.

On 12th January 2004 Queen Mary 2 made her maiden voyage, departing Southampton and sailing to Fort Launderdale in Florida. Later that year she sailed to Athens to act as a hotel for the 2004 Olympic Games whilst in dock. The Queen Mary 2 is a versatile ship and will stay at the forefront of ocean lining for years to come.

She is cruising to Dubai to take up her new job as a hotel and entertainment centre. Before departing to Dubai she will do one final farewell lap around Great Britain visiting ports such as Southampton, Liverpool, Belfast and a few others.

Having served for 35 years at sea the QE2 has enjoyed a prolonged life on the sea and having made 25 world cruises she has been the flag ship of Cunard for all of those 35 years, she will be replaced by Queen Victoria a new superliner that Cunard are currently constructing.
