Celebrity Silhouette the next Celebrity Solstice Class Ship

Celebrity Cruises has announced the name for their next Celebrity Solstice class ship due in service in 2011; the name Celebrity Silhouette. The Celebrity Silhouette will be the fourth of five planned Celebrity Solstice ships, the others being Solstice herself, Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Eclipse which will enter service in April 2010 offering cruises from Southampton.

The Celebrity Solstice class of ships are 122,000 tons and carry 2,850 guests in 1425 cabins, 90% of which are outside cabins, 85% with Balconies. It is envisaged that the Celebrity Silhouette will have all the facilities that the earlier Solstice class ships have and what the regular passengers expect.

Celebrity Eclipse Cruise to Paris

Celebrity Cruises has announced that Celebrity Eclipse will have an earlier than expected inaugural cruise a cruise to Paris. This is becoming a common feature with Celebrity Cruises as the Celebrity Eclipse’s sister ships the Solstice Class Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox both debuted earlier than initially expected.

Did you know TUI Cruises is a one ship German Cruise owned by both TUI Ag and Royal Caribbean and their only cruise ship is called Mein Schiff. Mein Schiff was formally Celebrity Galaxy of Celebrity Cruises and is currently undergoing a 50m Euro’s face lift including the addition of some 200 balcony cabins, almost doubling her number as Celebrity Galaxy.

A nice feature on board the TUI Cruises Mein Schiff is the inclusion of an Espresso Machine in every cabin.

Celebrity Cruises is to introduce a new dining option to allow cruises to book dining times in the main restaurant; they call this Celebrity Select Dining. Rather like the Royal Caribbeans‘ Oasis of the Seas pre show booking system, Celebrity Select Dining will be bookable online in advance.

The only ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet not to have Celebrity Select Dining will be Celebrity Xpedition and the first cruise to experience the Celebrity Select Dining option will be on Celebrity Equinox on its 29th September 2009 cruise.

Celebrity Equinox Pre-Maiden Cruise from Southampton

Great news is coming out of Celebrity Cruises as they have announced that their new build Celebrity Equinox will start off her career with an one off pre-maiden cruise from Southampton.

Celebrity Equinox is the second of the 2,850-passenger Solstice Class vessels and will run an eight-day Norwegian fjords itinerary from July 31. This will be in addition to the ship’s maiden Mediterranean Cruise from Southampton to Civitavecchia on August 8.

The eight-night itinerary will see Celebrity Equinox visit five ports in Northern Europe; prices will start at £999 based on two people sharing a balcony cabin and free car parking courtesy of Celebrity Cruises at Southampton.

New from Celebrity Cruises is that Celebrity Eclipse is set to offer cruises from Southampton when she enters service in 2010. This will be the first time that a Celebrity Cruises ship has home ported from Southampton.

Celebrity are investing a lot in Europe this year with Celebrity Century, Celebrity Summit, Celebrity Constellation and Celebrity Solstice being joined by Celebrity Equinox during the year, to offer cruises throughout Europe and the Mediterranean.

Fuel Supplement Suspended

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd has announced that they are to suspend the fuel supplement for Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises. This suspension applies to all sailings that depart from the 1st January 2009 to anywhere in the world.

This suspension in the fuel supplement is due to the lower prices of fuel that are currently in place.

Guests who now book a cruise that departs from 1st January 2008 will not be charged the fuel supplement and those who have already booked for sailings after this date will receive a refund.

Celebrity Cruises has announced that Celebrity Eclipse, the third ship in the Celebrity Solstice Class, will be based in Southampton in the UK in 2010. She will be celebrating her launch in the port before setting sail for summer cruises to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

Celebrity Cruises expect Celebrity Eclipse to help boost their already extensive European presence. The ground-breaking ship has a capacity of 2,850 passengers who can enjoy, amongst other things, 10 varied restaurants, an area of lawn with real grass and live glass blowing demonstrations as part of the extensive onboard facilities.
