Carnival UK has stated that it will be charging the full cancellation fees due to anyone missing out on their cruise due to the recent Ash Crisis. Many travel companies assume or rather play on the assumption that travel insurance should cover the possibilities of cancellation or delay of a cruise. Yet many travel insurance companies do not cover the sort of Ash crisis that halted flights throughout Europe.
So as is always the case the people who loose out are the cruisers themselves or the travel agents who sold them the cruise. According to Travel Weekly one agent, Tour America had 98 passengers effected by the Ash crisis, if the number was 500 they would now be out of business, [which would effect not just those going on holiday when the crisis was on, but many others].
